Pay attention to letter

My compliments to Richard Kuhling, former Spokane County GOP chairman. His recent letter in the Spokesman-Review has restored my confidence in the intelligence and sanity of many who identify as Republicans. Too often lately, I’ve thought of the GOP as the “Grand Odd Party,” and not so grand either.

I grew up in a divided family: my mother was a Republican, my father was a Democrat. I generally vote Democratic, but I have also supported worthy Republicans and Independents. I believe wholeheartedly in the two-party system and have been dismayed by the damage Donald Trump has done.

It is my hope that many Republicans read Kuhling’s letter and gave it the thoughtful attention it deserves. As has often been said, the greatest danger to a healthy democracy is an uninformed, or misinformed, public.
