Time for political housecleaning

I am writing this as I watch the sit-in taking place in the House of Representatives. The Democrats are shouting, singing and taunting the majority party after failing to pass four bills regarding gun control.

Being a politically independent retired teacher, I have witnessed temper tantrums performed by kindergartners, and I have seen some doozies. To see our two senators joining this shameful display doesn’t represent the decorum expected of the highest legislative body in the land.

They both ran their past campaigns promising to work with their counterparts across the aisle in a bipartisan manner. I understand it was much easier to be in the majority party controlling agendas and such before the voters decided it was a time for some changes. I have previously written that the public cannot continue to send the same people to represent us and expect different results.

All of our representatives, of both parties, have voted with their party 90-plus percent of the time. Congress is setting a horrible example of working together. Could duels come back as a way of settling disagreements? Just joking? The time has come for some housecleaning.
