Parade crowd terrific

This year my son, Kevin Childre, was added to the Fallen Heroes. My daughter Kathy carried his banner at the Lilac Parade. As I rode in the trailer, I was so touched by the beautiful response of the people lining the parade route.

Throughout the entire parade, people stood up and were so silent as the banners passed by. They showed such respect and honor. Hats were taken off, hands placed over hearts. Military personnel saluted. Vets saluted. The only constant sound was the gentle clapping of hands and an occasional “Thank you for your sacrifice.”

It was an amazing tribute from the people of Spokane to those who have given everything for their country. Thank you so much, everyone. You touched all of our hearts.
