Outgoing state Rep. Shannon McMillan loses bid for state party secretary
Idaho Republican Party Secretary Marla Lawson has won another term, turning back a challenge from outgoing state Rep. Shannon McMillan, R-Silverton. North Idaho state Reps. Don Cheatham, R-Post Falls, and Vito Barbieri, R-Dalton Gardens, spoke out for McMillan. “Shannon is faithful to our party’s platform and principles. Shannon McMillan is … a hard and diligent worker who works well with all,” Cheatham said. “I believe integrity is Shannon McMillan’s core value, in addition to being a kind, principled and thoughtful person.” Barbieri said, “Her Republican credentials are impeccable, and I am privileged to second her nomination for the position of party secretary.”
McMillan lost her House seat in the GOP primary last month to Priscilla Giddings, who will face Democrat Jessica Chilcott of Sandpoint in November.
