Cascadia: Far-reaching fake reports

The Coeur d’Alene Press, which is reporting on Cascadia Rising as if a disaster has already occurred, isn’t the only media outlet that’s gone “War of The Worlds.” Mary Malone/CDA Press authored an article ( here ) that compiles similar reports from multiple outlets including KXLY, The (Eugene, Ore.) Register-Guard, Salem’s Statesman Journal, Radio Free Redoubt and the Seattle Times. Press Editor Mike Patrick published this note with Malone’s article: Although the earthquake and subsequent disasters discussed in this report did not actually occur, each publication and reporter represented here is real, as is their reporting about the four-day disaster training exercise taking place throughout Oregon, Washington and Idaho.

Question: Is it OK to report fake news?
