Scottish Lakes high camp co-founder Peg Stark left legacy in the hills
MOUNTAIN PEOPLE — If you’re new to the mountains of Washington as well as backpacking, backcountry skiing, wilderness and mountain lodges, you may not have heard of Bill and Peg Stark.
But if you head into the Cascades and relish the most scenic peaks and mountain lakes, you’ll probably run across something they left behind.
Peg died last week at the age of 99, a decade after Bill passed away.
Joel Connelly of SeattlePI.com wrote and excellent remembrance, The Wonderful Life of Peg Stark: Exploring and Naming the Enchantment Lakes .
Their legacy lives on at the rustic comfort of the Scottish Lake High Camp near Leavenworth.
