Tears of grief for victims, inhumanity

Crosses, one for each victim, line a walkway as a memorial to those killed in the Pulse nightclub mass shooting a few blocks from the club early Friday, June 17, 2016, in Orlando, Fla. Experts say it’s too soon to gauge whether a week of horrific news out of Orlando will hurt tourism there. But travel agents are not seeing widespread cancellations, and many travelers say they’re committed to their theme park vacations. (AP Photo/David Goldman)

In her Front Porch column this week, Cindy Hval reacts to news of yet another mass murder in this country:

It’s not unheard of for me to write a column through tear-swollen eyes. After all, a personal column is, well, personal. In this space, I’ve written about the sudden death of my beloved father-in-law, the near-death of my youngest son, the gut-wrenching ache of a child moving many states away, and the horrific murders of school children and teachers in Newtown, Connecticut. I am a woman, a writer, a mother, a daughter, and a wife, and I view the world from those interchangeable lenses. On Sunday morning, all of those lenses were clouded with tears as I woke to the news of the massacre in Orlando, Florida. More here.

Question: How do you process these ongoing, senseless mass murders in this country?
