Support EPA’s plan

Tribal leaders are right; our reliance on coal and oil is posing a serious threat to our safety and our health. Not only do oil spills in the ocean and train derailments cause devastating impacts on our water resources and wildlife, but simply the production and use of these fossil fuels impacts our health every day.

Burning fossil fuels produces pollutants that worsen our air quality and raise global temperatures, resulting in more heat strokes, asthma attacks and other severe health problems. That’s why we need to get off dirty coal and oil and instead power our nation through renewable energies. The health benefits alone can save our nation billions of dollars by preventing any further global warming.

That’s why it’s so important that we support the EPA’s Clean Power Plan that sets limits on how much power plants can pollute and encourages investment in clean, safe, renewable energies like solar and wind. We can also support standards to improve the efficiency of our big trucks and buses. Cutting our dependence of polluting fuels will cut emissions from our largest sectors and allow us to avert the worst impacts of global warming, for our health and our environment.
