County could aid park

Is Riverfront Park only for the use of citizens of the city of Spokane? If a survey of park users were performed, I would be willing to bet that at least half of the visitors are from outside of the city. Most of them from the county outside of the city. So build it and they will come. But don’t ask them to help pay for it.

So how about it, county residents? Care to chip in for the enjoyment you experience numerous times of the year? How about a ballot initiative to chip in a little? Oh, that’s right. You live outside the city because you don’t wish to pay taxes for the burden and traffic you create as you drive to work in the city and all the amenities of the city you enjoy. This is why I think that cities should be dissolved and only county governments should exist.

Think about it. You might enjoy Riverfront Park even more if you felt you had ownership.
