A Slice of Life

Mrs. O enjoys browsing garage sales. So when she saw one on 12th Street near our home Tuesday she pulled over. And bought something. As she was paying the homeowner for her item, the woman handed her a toy soldier from a basket full of toy soldiers — you know, one of those green figures about 2 1/2 inches tall, with its own platform. Her soldier was pointing a handgun. The homeowner said she was handing out the toy soldiers to encourage garage sale shoppers to remember the real soldiers out there, protecting our country from international evil in this time of worldwide unrest. She wanted the shoppers to say a prayer for our soldiers. Or to remember them kindly.
