Idaho Air Guard announces major deployment; 500+ to go to Middle East

The Idaho Air National Guard has announced that more than 500 members of its 124 ^th Fighter Wing, based at Gowen Field, will be deployed to the Middle East this spring and summer as part of the U.S.-led fight against the Islamic State group. The deployment will include multiple aircraft, pilots, maintenance personnel, security forces, medical personnel and various other support staff. The Guard reports that deployments typically last up to 180 days, with multiple departures spread out over the next several months.
