Bill targets driving sans insurance

Legislation to raise the fine for driving without car insurance in Idaho from $75 to $150 has passed the Senate on a 23-11 vote, after its sponsor, Sen. Grant Burgoyne, D-Boise, said the fine hasn’t been updated in decades, and it’s now so low that it’s providing an incentive for people to not get insurance and just pay the fine instead. Sen. Steven Thayn, R-Emmett, spoke against the bill, saying, “Those that are in poverty are struggling as it is – I’m sure they’d like to buy insurance, they just can’t”/ Betsy Russell , Eye on Boise. Question: Do you support/oppose this legislation?
