Brannon: ‘Most open closed primary’
Speaking to Huckleberries Online today, County Clerk Jim Brannon called the Idaho GOPrez primary Tuesday the “most open closed primary” he’s seen. All Idahoans can vote in the presidential primary for Republicans or Constitutionalists Tuesday, he said. If you’re registered Democrat, you simply must fill out a Republican Party affiliation form to vote. If you’re unaffiliated, you can affiliate at your poll by having a precinct worker right your name in the poll book. County Clerk Brannon said voters generally can vote at their usual precinct place with some exceptions, including Precinct 17 (now St. Mark’s Lutheran Church on Maple Street/Hayden), Precint 43 (now Community United Methodist on Hanley Avenue) and Precincts 48-49 (now LDS church on 4th Street). Also, Brannon cautioned voters in eight precincts (38, 39, 40, 42, 43, 44, 45 & 51) to check with Election Department precinct locator map for polling place because boundaries of those precincts were reworked since the last election.
