For all of us non-Irish gardeners, St. Patrick’s Day means that it’s time to plant your potatoes — if you grow potatoes. Spuds tend to take the nutrients out of the soil. So I plant them every so many years. I’m overdue to plant them this year. We’ll see. OTOH, home-grown potatoes are way sweeter than the store-bought ones. They’re like home-grown tomatoes.
