New city statue awaits dedication

The statue of Chief Morris Buffalo sits poised along the Centennial Trail, near North Idaho College, looking out at the confluence of Lake Coeur d'Alene and the Spokane River. Walking partner Greg Lee snapped two photos for Huckleberries Online during our noon walk today.

Walking partner Greg Lee snapped photos of the statue of Chief Morris Antelope for Huckleberries Online today during our noon walk along the waterfront. (You can see a second photo of the statue by clicking on picture above.) This sculpture, by local artist Cheryl Metcalf, will be dedicated on Monday, April 4. It honors the connection of the Coeur d’Alene Indian Tribe with the city that bears the tribe’s name. You can read more about the dedication here.
