We’ve reached the end-of-the-line for the sub-par 2016 Idaho Legislature, which voted to raise property taxes on homeowners, ignored insurance for the working poor and allowed every Tom, Dick and Mary over age 21 to carry heat without a permit to do so. Oh well, Mary Souza and Kathy Sims didn’t damage urban renewal law too much (and Mary failed to make nonpartisan school board elections partisan in her attempt to move them to the general election in even years). We have better funding for public education this year, no thanks to the aforementioned Sims, Vito Barbieri and Shannon McMillan. And Betsy Russell, my partner in journalism, proved again that she’s the best political reporter in Idaho. Now, our legislators come home to ask for our votes. When they do, ask them about their votes during the 2015 and 2016 session. I’ll be here to remind you of them. Here’s your TGIF Wild Card …
