Otter mulls Bible-in-schools veto
Asked whether he’ll sign a controversial bill “expressly permitting” the use of the Bible and other religious texts in schools – despite the Idaho Constitution’s strict prohibition of that – Otter said, “I’ve got advice on both sides. Advice on one said you’re going to get sued, and the Constitutional Defense Fund is going to get hit for more money. And other side, they can use the Bible in the classroom right now, and they were instructed on how they could use the Bible in the classroom before. And it’s not just the Bible, it’s any religious text.” Otter said at a post-session news conference today that he hasn’t yet decided whether or not to sign the bill/ Betsy Russell , Eye on Boise. Question: Will Gov. Otter punt and allow the Bible-in-schools bill to become law without signing it, like he did for the permitless carry bill? Or will he sign it? Or will he veto it? What’s your guess?
