Huckleberries hears …

Huckleberries hears that the special meeting of the North Idaho College Board of Trustees at 5:30 p.m. Monday could be a doozy. The trustees will discuss the 3-2 vote that approved boundaries for new trustee zones that were obviously gerrymandered to protect incumbents Ron Nilson and Todd Banducci. The two, whose spots are up for re-election this year, live a mile apart. Yet, lines were drawn on an alternative map that put them in two different zones. Huckleberries also hears that feathers have been ruffled in high places by a students’ petition that challenges the obvious gerrymandering. The key here is board chairman Ken Howard, a good man who for some reason suffered a brain cramp when he sided with Nilson and Banducci in approving the gerrymandered zones.
