Appalled at Western State
In response to “Dozens escaped Western State Hospital since 2013” (May 4): When you think of mental hospitals, you probably think that the people there who are a danger to themselves and others can’t escape. Well, apparently that is not the case.
This article shows how dozens of potentially dangerous patients have escaped Western State Hospital in the last few years. Now, not only did Western State allow mentally ill patients to escape, but they also lied about it.
It appears that this mental hospital was more concerned about the reputation then the safety of the public. When it is possible to have destructive, mentally unsound escapees lurking in the shadows, it is better that people be aware of the situation. By keeping us in the dark, Western State has put innocent lives in danger. I am absolutely appalled by their utter disregard of the risks, and their blatant cover-up of the truth.
