Hate mars fun run

To the people with the abortion protest signs at Bloomsday: I beg you to consider leaving the race early if you choose to protest again in the future. I was walking Bloomsday this year in the Red (stroller) section. Even with warning, I was not prepared to witness the hatred that made you stand up there showing those images to families.

As I walked by, mothers were asking their daughters to turn their heads. My son was fortunately asleep in his stroller, so I helped a nearby mother distract her daughter by talking about my baby.

I want you to know that you were shouting at children and their mothers. I hope to God that this is not the audience you are seeking for your protest. Would you protest a maternity ward? An elementary school? If you claim to be pro-life, I would hope you would support life where it flourishes.

If you show up at the race next year, please watch for the first child who passes you. Know that after that, there will be a sea of children, walking, running, jumping, skipping and riding to the finish line.

Please clear out at that moment and let the children have their cheerful, sunny Bloomsday morning.
