Sheriff: Green has bigger warchest
John Green, the constitutional sheriff candidate who is trying to unseat Republican incumbent Ben Wolfinger, has raised more money that the sitting sheriff. But much of the money appears to be loans to himself. In a campaign finance report filed today with the Kootenai County clerk, Green appears to have loaned himself $14,741 total for his campaign. Also, he has raised $2,337 in donations from individuals including six in the latest reporting period from $100 to $500. You can see Green’s finance report here. By contrast, Sheriff Wolfinger raised $7,331 in total contributions for his campaign, including $6,849 in the latest reporting period. Wolfinger received 40 donations from individuals or groups from $50 to $1,000. Donations of interest were from Commissioner Dan Green, Susan & Charles Nipp, Doug Parker, former Sheriff Pierce Clegg, former Hayden mayor Ron McIntire, Coeur d’Alene Tribe & NIPAC. You can see Wolfinger’s finance report here. Democrat Tina Kunishige has loaned herself $4,500 and collected $215 from individuals including one donation of $100 from a man in Oldtown.
