Cheney SD doesn’t pick Handelman

Superintendent Matt Handelman of the Coeur d’Alene School District didn’t get the superintendent job in the Cheney, Wash., School District. Here’s the news release from the Cheney School District:

“The Cheney Public Schools Board of Directors it pleased to announce that Mr. Rob Roettger will be the next superintendent of the Cheney Public Schools, succeeding Dr. Debra Clemens who is becoming superintendent of the North Thurston School District in Lacey, Washington. One of three outstanding finalists for the position, Mr. Roettger currently serves as superintendent of the Lind and Ritzville Cooperative School Districts, and prior to that had served as a principal in both the St. John and Endicott School Districts.”

Handelman now has applied for at least two superintendent jobs in Washington this year. He was one of six semi-finalists for the superintendent job in Edmonds in March.
