Agencies catch car theft suspect
Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office press release:
At about 7:50 a.m. today, deputies responded to Fowler Road, near Rathdrum, for the report of a suspicious male prowling a vehicle.
The male was not located at that time. At about 9:20 a.m., deputies responded to another residence on Fowler Rd. regarding a vehicle that had just been stolen. An Idaho State Police Trooper located the stolen vehicle southbound on Highway 95 and attempted to stop the vehicle. The suspect failed to comply and fled from the Trooper in the stolen vehicle. A high speed pursuit ensued for a short time and the suspect moved off of the highway and onto the city streets of Dalton. ISP then discontinued their pursuit due to the extreme recklessness and disregard for the safety of the public by the suspect.
The stolen vehicle was then spotted driving eastbound on Dalton Ave. by a Coeur d’Alene Police Officer. A perimeter of the area was established using law enforcement from Kootenai County, ISP, and Coeur d’Alene. The stolen vehicle was located abandoned at the end of Dalton Ave. A Kootenai County Deputy and K9 unit responded to the scene and began a track. With the assistance of the K9 unit, the suspect later identified as Cody Brent Hall, 25, was apprehended on the side of Canfield Mountain. Hall was charged with Burglary, Grand Theft, and Felony Eluding.
