IFF purity test suffers pratfall

State Rep. Luke Malek, R-Coeur d'Alene, as shown in this Inlander photo by Daniel Walters.

“Can Republicans like Rep. Luke Malek cross the Idaho Freedom Foundation and survive?” the Inlander ‘s subhead asked in a recent story . The answer is a resounding “Hell yes.” The Idaho Freedom Foundation is famous (or infamous, depending on your point of view) for the Freedom Index, a purity test that almost everyone in the Idaho Legislature fails. This year, 75 out of the 105 Idaho legislators got Ds or Fs on the index. Five times more Idaho legislators get Ds or Fs on the Freedom Index as get As or Bs. “For some, fear of voting against a ranking from the Freedom Foundation is crippling,” Malek wrote in a Spokesman-Review op-ed last year. He got called a “poster boy of obedience to federal government” as a result. In fact, not only did the Freedom Foundation’s enemies in North Idaho — like Sen. Shawn Keough and Malek — easily survive, the group lost some of their most reliable allies/ Daniel Walters , of Inlander’s Bloglander. More here .

Question: What do you expect of Rep. Luke Malek during his third term?
