Sam: There’s life after journalism

WonderingAloud: “I remember you (Sam Taylor) saying at some time you were struggling in the journalism profession (no surprise, given the massive layoffs), and that you were going back to school, in a new field. For some reason, I thought it was law.”

Sam Taylor ( new deputy administrator for the city of Coeur d’Alene and former Huckleberries Online commenter): Hi Wondering, thanks so much! You have an amazing memory! This must have been nearly a decade ago now! I wasn’t struggling as much as the journalism world was — and I’ve always aspired to a few other things — public service being a big one.  At the time I actually looked into joining the Air Force and also looked into law school. In the end, I stuck with journalism and I’m glad I did, because it gave me a crucial background I use every single day in the public service career I have now.
