Still voting at the polls

Okie Doke, my son-in-law in Portland, texted me this PM to say how glorious it is to vote by mail, esp. considering all the ballot initiatives on the Oregon ballot this year. Okie Doke prefers noodling through them in the comfort of his living room rather than trying to guess what they mean on the fly at the voting booth. He said that Oregon already has a 28.5% turnout with a week to go in this presidential election year without end amen. I responded that 117,000 Idahoans have already voted. But that I don’t plan to vote before election day. I like going to my precinct, housed in the Assembly of God Church, and voting in person. I like seeing my neighbors there. I like huddling in the little voting booth to mark in the ovals. I like hearing an election worker say: “David Oliveria has voted.” I also like getting one of those “I voted” stickers. If the election workers hand out cookies, too … that’s so much the better. How about you?

Question: Why do you prefer voting the way you do (absentee, at the Election Department pre-election or at the polls)?
