Re-elect Dan Schmidt

I have known Dan Schmidt for decades, first as a very fine student in an organic chemistry class I taught. Subsequently he undertook research in my laboratory learning the care taken by scientists to obtain convincing data to support statements made in a scientific paper. He proceeded to medical school successfully becoming an doctor, and taking up a practice to help anyone overcome injury or illness.

More recently he has served with distinction as a senator in the Idaho Legislature, while continuing his medical practice at home. Although he ran and runs as a Democrat, beforehand, he considered himself an independent.

He has worked well with the overwhelming majority of Republican legislators and his suggestions are appreciated by most. He is not a tax-and-spend Democrat, but makes great effort to carefully learn and consider concerns and opinions of all he represents and devotes much thought into crafting the best legislation and stretching our tax dollars to cover all the needs and obligations our state government has.

I am grateful for his willingness to serve as our senator from Benewah and Latah Counties. Hopefully he will win re-election in November and continue to serve us all so well.
