Milbank ignored Boomers

As a boomer who came of age in the 1960s, I can say with full confidence that columnist Dana Milbank’s Oct. 27 characterization of boomers as “selfish and unyielding” products of Woodstock is wrong.

Ignored by Milbank (and many others) is the other half of the boomer generation. The men and women of this half stood up and answered their country’s call in Vietnam and around the globe, protecting the United States from dangerous Cold War adversaries. Most of these men and women later returned home to continue the normal life they had interrupted to serve their fellow citizens. Others’ gave up their lives and dreams for the rest of us.

Milbank should reflect on this half of the Boomer generation before trying to define our generation again.
