Let’s come together

This election certainly didn’t go the way I had hoped. It seemed driven more by shared hatred than by any vision for our future.

A hallmark of our nation has been its ability to effect change, for the most part, via peaceful transfer of power. We have had a civil war, protests, marches and monumental political battles, but we usually emerged better and stronger from them.

Now it is time for us as citizens of this great country to put the election behind us and come together in expectation that our newly elected president will rise to the challenge, opportunity and necessity to lead this nation for all its people, parties and beliefs. We must forgive and forget the divisive rhetoric that ensnared this campaign.

Our nation has, often throughout its history, nurtured a “can do” spirit that has placed men on the moon, won great wars, and enriched the lives of billions of people here and around the world. We have expanded entrepreneurial spirit and a vision of a better life through education, technology and trade.

Unfortunately, we have lost sight of some fairness and access issues here at home in the process. But we can fix them. Let’s drop the hate, rally our skill sets and work toward solutions-together. It’s time.
