Election Day saw 10,301 registrations
Kootenai County Clerk Jim Brannon and the Elections Department pushed hard for early registration, but with about 7,000 more voters turning up for this year’s election than the presidential election in 2012, it didn’t make much of a difference.
During early registration from late July through mid-October, 7,931 Kootenai County residents registered to vote.
I thought it was a really high number,” said Carrie Phillips, Kootenai County elections manager. “I thought our efforts were really positive.”
Then came last Tuesday. After 7,931 people had registered over almost three months, 10,301 registered on Tuesday alone.
That’s about 2,000 more election-day registrations than in 2012, Phillips said/Bethany Blitz, Coeur d’Alene Press. More here.
