Race epithet sprayed on MLK Jr center

Racist graffiti was found on the side of the house that is part of the Martin Luther King Jr. center in the Perry district on Tuesday morning Nov. 15, 2016. (Jesse Tinsley / The Spokesman-Review)

SR.com also published a photo of the highly offensive racist epithet. We did so after a long discussion. The AP stylebook says that the word is only to be shown or used in extraordinary circumstances. This seems to be one of those times. Do you agree/disagree.

A racial epithet referring to black people was spray-painted on Spokane’s Martin Luther King Jr. Family Outreach Center Monday night.

Staff at the center found the graffiti on the side of the building when they came in to work Tuesday morning.

The center provides education, recreation and cultural activities for children and families.

City Council President Ben Stuckart visited the center Tuesday morning as soon as he learned about the graffiti, he said/ SR staff reports . More here.
