TGIF Wild Card — 11.18.16
I’m glad to see the weather holding up this deep into November. In past years, the few days before my birthday (Sunday) has brought us: Wind Storm (2015) and Ice Storm (1996). I remember celebrating an early birthday with my family by candlelight 20 years ago. After work that day, I had to scrape a sheet off caked ice off my windshield before I could head home. I was grateful for the wood stove. And candles. Mrs. O transformed the scary evening into one of remembrance, my last birthday in which both kids were home. Junior would be off to Linfield College the next fall and a journey that led him into medicine. I’ve always thought that November is a lousy month for a birthday. It’s cold. Christmas is too near. In school, I was the third youngest one in my class because Dec. 1 was the cut-off. But it is what it is. Here’s your TGIF Wild Card …
