What will Trump do to repair damage?

Donald Trump gained a backdoor victory, not by winning the popular vote, but rather by the Electoral College. Speaker Paul Ryan wrongly asserted that Trump had been given a mandate by the voters. It now remains to be seen who Trump is and what he will bring to the presidency.

During the campaign, his lack of common decency, courtesy and belligerent attitude were in evidence. Now we must determine where we stand. Trump stated, post-election, that we must come together. What must he do to repair the damage that he has caused? As Americans, what will we do to reaffirm our values?

It is well to remember the reflections of Pastor Martin Niemoller after WWII.

“First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak out for me.”

“Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” - Winston Churchill.
