Next 4 Corners phase in offing
ignite cda was given a first look at the next phase of the ongoing Four Corners project (Northwest Boulevard/Fort Grounds Drive). The first phase involved reconstruction of what is now Fort Grounds Drive, which separates City Park from Memorial Field. The next phase will take place in the middle of 2017, in conjunction with construction of a joint city-county parking lot on the west side of NW Blvd, opposite the county courthouse grounds. The next phase of 4 Corners will involve purchase of property, a land-swap with the city, and realignment of N Park Drive. Also, it appears from the photo above that the realignment will lead to construction of a pickleball court, two park settings, and possible move of Skate Park. At the ignite cda meeting, Parks Director Bill Greenwood said that Memorial Field will be kept as a softball only field. There was discussion about preservation of the historic grandstand. You can read the discussion in the minutes of ignite cda here.
