PFPD officer faces DUI charge after accident

Post Falls Police officer Brenda Knight has been charged with a DUI after an off-duty car accident Saturday night near Rathdrum. Kootenai County Sheriff’s deputies and medical personnel were dispatched to the area of Boekel Road and Forestdale Drive around 6:25 p.m. Saturday for a possible injury crash, according to a sheriff’s office news release. Deputies found Knight alone in a vehicle, where she showed signs of alcohol consumption. Deputies had Knight perform a field sobriety test, and they took breath samples. Knight was cited for excessive DUI, with blood-alcohol levels above 0.20. There were no other vehicles involved in the crash.
