Walkabout: Remembering Ice Storm

Walkabout (RE: 20 years ago: Ice Storm ): “I remember that day, Stickman and I both worked at Honeywell in the Spokane Valley and even though we heard trees falling all over Tubbs Hill we still had to go to work that afternoon. We headed for work but were told to go home shortly after we had arrived. Conditions had gotten much worse in a short period of time. As we drove home on the freeway going about 20 mph the only lights were from the cars on the highway, everywhere you looked was darkness. It was estimated that about 1,200 trees were lost on Tubbs HIll and that next spring the logging operation to remove those trees by helicopter was memorable and fascinating to watch.”
