Take stand against Trump
Our country is on the precipice, and many are either complicit or unconcerned with the historical implications of what has occurred.
Panic and parody about Trump’s wild ideas aside, detailed analysis of Trump’s first 100 days in office are troubling and smack of fascist design. Isolationism, nationalism and anti-globalist sentiment have ruled Trump’s campaign from the start, and his calls against minorities and systematic othering by using the definite article “the” in front of Hispanics, blacks, gays, Muslims, etc., imply something sinister. Trump’s word choice is designed to separate and divide, not bring us together as a country. Frighteningly, his supporters are becoming more radical by the day.
Scholars have drawn connections between Trump and fascism for months. We’ve seen this all before in 1930s Germany. The parallels with the rise of Adolf Hitler and other fascist leaders are too numerous to count, while petitions pleading members of the electoral college to switch their votes to Clinton by Dec. 19 are rising in support. Russia’s hand in the election becomes clearer daily. We must wake up and realize what is happening. We must take a stand before it’s too late.
