Sweet Lou’s opens downtown

Sweet Lou’s Restaurant and Tap House opens (today) in the Parkside Building at 601 Front Ave. downtown. The 3,600-square-foot place seats 200 with indoor and heated patio tables that look at McEuen Park, Tubbs Hill and Lake Cd’A. It housed The Grill From Ipanema before it moved to Riverstone. Named for owners’ Chad and Meggie Foust’s son Lou and expanding from their 6-year-old place in Ponderay, it offers American fare entrees with fresh ingredients and creative twists. Included are 10 burgers, steaks, salmon, pork and ribs (including bison ribs), smoked bakes beans, horseradish mashed potatoes, hand-battered onion rings, desserts and a kids’ menu. Happy hour 4-6 p.m. daily offers beer, wine and appetizer specials, and smoked prime rib is the dinner special Fridays and Saturdays. Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Phone 667-1170.
