Senate Dems re-elect Stennett, Buckner-Webb; choose Jordan as new caucus chair

There was change tonight in the Senate Democratic leadership team, as Sen. Grant Burgoyne, D-Boise, opted not to run again for caucus chair, and Sen. Maryanne Jordan, D-Boise, was elected to succeed him. “Leadership can interfere with some of the things you want to do as a legislator,” Burgoyne explained. “It’s a question of focus.”

The Senate Democratic caucus is just six members now, down from seven before the November election.

Sen. Michelle Stennett, D-Ketchum, was re-elected as minority leader, and Sen. Cherie Buckner-Webb, D-Boise, was re-elected as assistant minority leader.  “We’re a pretty good group,” Stennett said. “I’m just so pleased with my team, and I think we have an ability to work hard and be real contributors to the Senate.”
