City wants input on public art

The City of Coeur d’Alene and its Arts Commission is seeking public input on a major new art piece to be installed at Riverstone Park.
Three miniature versions of the potential art – known as maquettes – are now on display at the Coeur d’Alene Public Library for feedback. Community members can submit a ballot at the library after viewing the pieces to let the Arts Commission know their favorite. The public is invited to vote through October 10. The $69,000 piece will be placed in a 400-square-foot area just northwest of the Riverstone Park parking lot, on greenspace near the pond. The project is funded through a contribution to the City’s public art budget from ignite CDA, the City’s urban renewal district. Ignite provides 2 percent of its annual budget back to the City for public art within both the Lakes and River urban renewal districts. This project is located in the River District. This new piece of art is expected to be installed by April 7, 2017, though the date is weather dependent/Deputy City Administrator
