Otter standing by Trump: ‘I accept his apology and contrition at face value’

Idaho Gov. Butch Otter, who with First Lady Lori Otter is serving as honorary co-chair of the Donald Trump presidential campaign in Idaho, said in a statement today that he’s continuing his support of Trump. Otter’s comments come after the release of a 2005 video over the weekend in which Trump boasted in explicit terms about groping and sexually assaulting women, saying, “When you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything.” Here is Otter’s full statement:

“There’s no question that Donald Trump’s comments about women are unacceptable and unfortunate. But I accept his apology and his contrition at face value. My continuing support for Mr. Trump’s candidacy is solely focused on ensuring that the best candidate is elected president of the United States.”
