VA eligibility unfair
I got a letter yesterday again rejecting my application for VA benefits. They claim I make too much money to need the VA. I am retired now and don’t believe my success in life should be a factor.
In 1969, one month out of high school, I voluntarily joined the Navy. The contract I signed at 17 years of age guaranteed me VA benefits for life if I served honorably. I ended up giving my country 10 years of my life, and have the honorable discharges from that service. I fulfilled my end of the bargain.
Now, retired at age 65, having risked everything I owned to start a business and ultimately providing employment for 25 others, I am being punished by my own country for being successful. As an employer, the law required that I honor every contract I signed. Why doesn’t Congress have to do the same thing?
Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers, I hear lip service from you. I have never seen any results. Why?
