Sypolt knows the job

One of the most important races voters will have the opportunity to consider is the Superior Court position currently held by Judge Greg Sypolt. The Spokesman-Review did a good job of stating the competing positions of Judge Sypolt and his challenger, Tim Fenessey. Many voters ignore voting on judicial races, thinking they are not important, or not knowing the candidates.

This race is important because public safety is at stake. Superior Court handles felony criminal cases, family law cases, as well as civil cases. Fenessey’s legal experience is strictly civil, whereas Judge Sypolt was a public defender, handling criminal defendant’s cases for many years prior to being appointed to the bench in 1997.

Fennessey says he can “get up to speed easily on both criminal and family law cases.” That is absurd. Compare a general practice physician to a specialist type doctor, for example a heart surgeon, brain surgeon, or OB/GYN doctor delivering babies. They have had years of additional training and experience.

Judge Sypolt is widely respected and can recognize dangerous repeat criminals. The safety of you, your family, your friends and neighbors is at stake. We don’t need someone learning on the job. Vote Sypolt.
