Hearn for average hunters

Last month Gov. Butch Otter purged Idaho Fish and Game Commissioners Mark Doerr and Will Naillon. Doerr and Naillon vigorously resisted efforts by a cabal of powerful rancher and farmer legislators to gift big game tags to large landowners.

New commissioner Greg Cameron is a farmer and near neighbor of Sen. Bert Brackett (R-Rogerston), the primary backer of the scheme to gift hundreds of tags to large landholders for resale to the highest bidder. Challis lawyer Jerry Meyers is a life member of Safari Club International and “several hunting clubs.” Given that background of hunting in private preserves, Meyers may be more supportive of efforts the cabal of large landholding legislators to gift and auction big game tags to the wealthy.

A giveaway of Idaho’s wildlife must be approved by the Idaho Legislature. One-party practices in Boise have allowed bullies such as Sen. Brackett and his legislative toadies to loot the public domain at will. Legislative candidate Tom Hearn will ask tough questions on how their schemes will disadvantage the average hunter who also wants a chance at a bull elk or a mature buck deer.

I’m supporting Tom Hearn.
