Weekend Wild Card — 10.29-30.16

I joined my brother-in-law to see my first high school game of the year Friday, Coeur d’Alene High’s 54-13 rout of Borah High. The Viks had too much talent. We sat high in the students’ section. I was surprised that the game didn’t have a better attendance, esp. from the students. Only a third of the student section was filled. Back in the day, the little town I called home packed the stands on Football Friday — and we had a lousy varsity team that won only 4 games in 4 years, including 2 in one year. Year in and year out, Coeur d’Alene High has a fine team. The adults still turn out. But the kids don’t seem too into it. Here’s your Weekend Wild Card …
