Valley wants surburbia

Is the Spokane Valley Council trying to turn the Valley into a jammed-up, overcrowded city? Pines, Sullivan and Argonne are already gridlocked. Instead of looking for a solution to that problem, they are rushing to change land restrictions. A comprehensive plan needs to be completed for the state by June 30. The council has chosen to move the date to November. They are removing restrictions on building heights, lots per acre and setbacks, and maybe they wanted it to be like Spokane.

Citizens don’t want a crowded city; we want a suburban area. One of the commissioners stated he did not have the foggiest idea why this area has come up for rezoning again because residents were so opposed to it (Sprague and Barker). Maybe they should ask this council. It is like they are undoing a lot.

For a council that said we listen to the citizen, it seems they are a little hard of hearing, don’t you think? We don’t want carpetbaggers on the city council ruining our lifestyle.
