Madsen spot on with wolves column

In reading the latest opinion piece by Sue Lani Madsen (“Wolves’ recovery will require balance,” Aug. 20), I found that while I don’t always agree with her, in this case she hit it spot on.

Any policy or “management” of a subject is ill-served by polarization. It requires thoughtful discourse, tolerance and willingness to compromise. The latter seems to be in short supply unfortunately. She cites a difficult policy implementation, with sides both “winning” and “losing” something.

How disappointing, then, to read the letter from Steve Busch (“Missed mark on wolves,” Aug. 20). Clearly he feels that anything other than strident agreement with his beliefs (i.e., attempts to present a neutral opinion rather than favoring one position - whichever that might be) cannot be tolerated and must be denigrated.
