Americans too complacent

Last week, the Spokesman-Review printed a cartoon in which there were ballot boxes for Hillary and Trump; and a shredder labeled “Other.” Unfortunately, this is pretty much the truth. I have yet to see a single campaign ad for any of the other presidential candidates.

One of the problems with modern-day America is our complacency. The political machine has become a behemoth, and most of us feel powerless to do anything about it.

H. Ross Perot took on the machine and actually managed to capture nearly 20 percent of the vote. A single snowflake doesn’t weigh much. However, a few million can collapse a roof. Perhaps if enough of us vote for other candidates, we could get some fresh blood in Olympia and Washington D.C.

Political pros such as Patty Murray and Cathy McMorris Rogers have outlived their political usefulness and should be taken out with the rest of the recyclables.
