Boise’s unpaid parking tickets total close to $1 million

Here’s a news item from the Associated Press: BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The city of Boise has more than $950,000 in unpaid parking tickets stemming from citations over the last seven years. KTVB-TV reports ( http://bit.ly/2cuGPLG ) that city records show more than 47,000 parking tickets have gone unpaid since October 2009. Boise spokesman Mike Journee says the city can’t revoke someone’s driving privileges over unpaid tickets, but violators can have bills sent to collections or their vehicles towed. Cars can get towed if the registered owner has an outstanding amount of unpaid fines totaling at least $200 for one month or if the person has five or more tickets. Boise officials say violations have decreased following the launch of the city’s parking app, which allows users to find an open space or add money to parking meters from their phones.
