Yes on I-735

Today I stand with Black Lives Matter showing solidarity in their struggle against racism, economic disparity and injustice. Today I stand with the Native Americans in their struggle to protect our water and land against the powerful reach of big business. Today I stand for all the people who suffer injustice politically, economically and culturally.

And who or what do we struggle against? Follow the money. The (currently legal) flow of money from powerful corporations and the wealthy elite into our political system is an effective strategy. Political contributions help to pave a profit stream unfettered by such inconveniences such as regulations, environmental damage and opposition from citizens.

The good news is that Nov. 8, here in Washington state, we have the historic opportunity to do something about it. Initiative 735 is calling for a constitutional amendment to clarify that the rights of the Constitution belong to people, not artificial entities. Seems like common sense, doesn’t it? It would make Washington state the 18th state to call on Congress for such an amendment.

This is our chance for the people to speak. Vote yes on I-735. Let’s get big money out of our elections.
